NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is designed for individuals of all experience levels. This Instructor-Led course involves direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor in a classroom and range setting.

Course Content: Topics include gun safety rules, operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. The course includes live fire training and a standardized shooting qualification. Students receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take an examination, and receive an NRA completion certificate.

Gear

    • Semiautomatic Pistol
      *Pistols are available for a fee, please coordinate this with your instructor in advance.
    • 2 Magazines
    • 200 Rounds of Ammunition (Actual live-fire round count is dependent on class progress and comfort with the exercises)
    • Comfortable clothing suitable for standing and shooting. Open toed shoes and low-cut clothing are not acceptable for training. A baseball-style hat is recommended.
    • Eye & Ear protection
      *Basic eye and ear protection are available to purchase but feel free to bring your own protective gear if you have them.
